Papyrus is probably the first type of paper known, it is hand made from Papyrus plant (like bamboo), they soak it in water for 3 days or so , then slice the trunk into half inch wide by about 10 inches long , then arrange it in cross fashion, weight it with heavy object ( stones at that time ) till it is dry then it is ready for use.

Here in Cairo there is a village built about 15 years ago to simulate pharaohs life and they produce this paper the same old way .   Artists get it and make calendars, photos, some people make certificates from it to give it style.   Normally it does not have regular edges to look old and natural but can be cut to size and shape .    The back ground of the tables below is a scanned papyrus paper except the color is stronger than normal .
